OK, so we are not looking for you to join us for the whole 500 miles of the ride…that would be silly (and logistically its not going to be possible).  But we are looking for riders of all abilities to join us for (all or part of) the final leg of our ride on Saturday 17th April 2010.

Not wanting to exclude anybody that is 1. willing, 2. has a bike, 3. can ride safely,  we are planning to have two meeting points so that riders of all abilities can join in and help raise the profile (and money) of the Charity Fund.  The following two parts of the ride you can join in with are: -

Lowestoft to Great Yarmouth (around 12 miles)
Meet at South Pier on Lowestoft Seafront at 11:00am on Saturday 17th April 2010
From here we will travel from here along a mixture of roads (avoiding the busiest ones where possible), taking cycle friendly routes for the majority of the journey.  After cycling around 10 miles we will arrive at the 2nd meeting point in Gorleston, where we will have a short break to gather anyone wishing to join us from here.

Gorleston to Great Yarmouth (around 2-3 miles)
Meet at the Bandstand in the Park on Gorleston Seafront at 12:30pm on Saturday 17th April 2010
From here we will make the short journey through Gorleston, down Southtown Road over the Haven Bridge, arriving at the final destination of the Great Yarmouth Town Hall where we will be greeted by His Worship the Mayor of Great Yarmouth.

Depending on the numbers joining us, we may need a Police presence for certain parts of the route, so having an indication of numbers beforehand will be most helpful.  Therefore, to enable you to join us for either part of the route, please send an email to joinus@mayorscharitybikeride.co.uk with your name, contact details and which part of the ride you will be joining us for.

Getting sponsored or taking donations for your participation is not essential, but any additional monies you can get for the Mayors Charity would be greatly appreciated.

Finally, please ensure that you bring sufficient refreshments to keep you hydrated and topped up with energy, any spares you may need (i.e. a spare inner tube), but most importantly ensure that your bike is in good working order and you have equipment and bright clothing enabling you to be seen on the roads.

If you can’t make it, don’t have a bike, or just dont feel up to cycling, donations of any denomination are greatly appreciated.
